Survivors often face additional barriers such as damaged credit, disrupted rental histories, employment instability, and housing discrimination. Response’s Housing for Survivors Program focuses on helping survivors obtain stable housing while providing the support needed to rebuild their lives and work toward long-term financial independence.
The program includes:
- Emergency short-term housing
- Shelter housing for up to two months
- Rental assistance
Survivors continue to receive advocacy, counseling, and community referrals throughout their participation in the program. Our housing program manager also supports budgeting, employment searches, and connections to additional emergency financial resources.
In 2021, 53 survivors and 42 children received housing support through one or more program components.
“This all is such a life changer for me. I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate your help and how it has made this whole life-changing experience an uplift in my life versus the breakdown it could have been.”

Securing safe, affordable housing is a critical step toward long-term safety, stability, and empowerment. In 2021, Response expanded this work by purchasing an additional transitional housing unit—our fourth to date. With continued community support, we will keep growing this vital program.
